This one is an absolute beauty. It's as mint as a nearly 40 yr. old guitar can be. You really have to look hard to find any blemishes.

Thunderhead

I didn't have to do too much to it when I received it. I changed the strings and cleaned the fretboard and basically gave it a good wipedown and that was it.

It plays like a dream. The action is nice and low. I haven't had a chance to play it plugged in yet, so more on that later. I've never really played around with a hollowbody like this. The body shape and weight are really comfortable to me. I'm not sure what the neck radius or shape is but it's very easy to play. Maybe a shallow "C" shape?

Changing the strings was a bit of an adventure. There are multiple grooves on the adjustable bridge pieces, so there a number of ways the strings can rest on them. I had to play around with it to get the spacing right. The bridge itself also slides up and down on the posts. Setting the intonation was fairly easy. The adjustment screws all worked well.

This is just an amazing instrument. I own some pretty nice O's and A's and I have to say that this is first time that I feel like I'm holding onto a piece of history. Thanks Miles for letting this one go.

Congrats Mike...it's beautiful...but, slowly walk away and give it Nick. Wouldn't it be great to see him on stage one day with this great piece of "O" history?! Sorry, you are just a little past your time (me too).

Ouch! That's a depressing thought there Jim! I should go have a drink or two...

Actually Nick's playing it right now as we speak.

Damn...

Sorry Mike, no offense meant! But, while you are pouring one and listening to Nick...a Scotch on the rocks for me please. ;)

For my money T-heads are the best all 'round electric guitar ever, period.

Randy - yes I am, in many ways. Being able to have such beautiful instruments and having my kids and friends to share them with... now if only I had the talent to get the most out of them! I do enjoy watching others - such as yourself - making them truly sing.

The only thing it really needs is the tip to the selector switch.

That looks like the T'Head on the back of the 'Try a Little Kindness' album...I never saw one of those up close and personal...What would it take for the Mothership to tool-up and make one of those today?!!!....(I'm dreamin'.. :( )

I've only played one Ovation hollow body ever. Looking forward to seeing this one at the g8rbowl.

Oh no. I'm talking about g8r's house MLK weekend, and I quote:

Wow... memory like a steel trap, eh? Well... if I can somehow piggyback it onto a work trip, then why not?

It's funny that you post that, because I was just trying to figure out a way to possibly attend another gathering - England in December. Turns out that I have to go back to France again the week before Christmas for work. Just daydreaming though...

Sounds like they already have a dedicated female following! It's pretty cool that they cite your son's band as an influence. You should become a manager on the side - you've certainly got the talent in the family. Do you guys all jam together at family gatherings?

We have a gathering on Thanksgiving and there's usually a guitar or two. I think It's going to be electric this year for the first time.
