| Newbie here. Today I unpacked my Ovation Anniversary (1657) edition after 5 years in storage. I love this guitar and used it on nightly gigs for years back in the late seventies through the eighties. In 2000 I gave it to my daughter who I lost in a tragic accident 5 years ago, and I haven't been able to open the case until last night. (enough soap opera). Anyway - the preamp is shot, and I'm looking for a replacement of the original or something that can take its place. Any ideas/suggestions? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | If that model has the single knob, or stacked knob, preamp you can look for another on eBay or Reverb.
It would be a relatively simple fix.
As always... Check the battery, and the connections.
Then try to isolate whether it is actually the preamp or the pickup or the output jack.
Then contact the repair shop.
800-552-4681 or Jbudny@DWdrums.com
I hope that helps.

| Thanks OMA. I have checked all the things you mention, and my conclusion is bad preamp. I looked on ebay for a stacked knob replacement but couldn't find one. An option would be to get a newer preamp, but I would have to cut into the body which I could do, but I'd hate to mess with the original look of this beautiful guitar. I'll contact the repair shop. Thanks for the link and info. |

I bet they have something for you, but just in case you could try the for sale/wanted section here. You can post in all the sections now.
Good luck |
