"acousticrats" has already been obscurely used. google it and you'll find one source linking the name to a band. it is probably obscure enough to get away with it, especially on your continent/island.

i like that name alot, actually.

Very cool!! I hope everything works out on the legal name part. Paul you actually have to tnank Mr. Wabbit also. Part of the name was his idea and I just started thinking of variations (honorable mention in your CD's liner notes would do it for me). So as far as the beer goes you can give Wabbit the beer. I always wanted to see what a drunk Wabbit looked like anyway :D . The only image that comes to mind with drunk animals was during a lab experiment . We had to overdose a lab RAT with Phenobarbital. After the injection the rat stumbled off the table and fell on the floor. He was about 17 inches from head to tail. The we had to give him Narcan (Naloxone) a narcotic antangonist that reversed the effects of the Phenobarbital. Within 8 seconds of the Narcan the ran was back to normal.

So Acoustic Rat may be an option.

1)Rats are cool.
2)Phil, do you have any pictures of the rat escapade?
3)As for the name, there is nothing new under the sun, so if the band likes it just use it. And if your worried about a domain name, then use something like acoustiratmen.com or something. I doubt there will be any confusion.

Rick,
Sorry no pictures available of the rat. I was in my fourth year at St. John's Univ. It was just one of many labs that I had to attend. One thing that was interesting is that the experiment was done in groups of four. The rat's head and forearms had to held down with the head between the middle and ring finger. The fingers were closed to hold down the forearms. The only one who had hands/nerve to hold down the rat was Artie. He only had one arm. I think he lost his other arm in a farming accident.
