At a recent Seminar I was talking to one of the Luthiers at his booth. we talked about 12 string electrics and he said shorter scale was better because of the overtones. He went on to explain to me that if you eliminate the "G" octave and double the "G" string as well as the "A" and "E" octaves you would have a lot more control.
Just a thought. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | To be honest, the 12 string long necks didn't do much for me. Too much going on and the lower frequencies it just gets garbled. But the 6 strings, they are really special. |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | I was afraid that the overtones and harmonics of the baritone 12 might be a bit too much but I have been pleasantly surprised at how strong and yet how clear the sound is.
Hopefully Mike will take them for a test drive and give his opinion of the twins.
Woody....did he have any examples for you to play or listen to? It is indeed food for thought. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Glad you like the 12. As I've said, I don't play much 12 string and my long neck is visiting New Jersey. I'll get it back some day and give it another listen, in the mean time it's better for Clifff to be playing it regularly than to be sitting in the closet.
I used the 2080D last night at the Frickin Mermain and it always gets "great sound" comments from everyone. |
