Hughie Thomasson, founding member of the Outlaws (wrote most of their hit songs), and also was a guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, passed away this September from a heart attack. He was 55.

The Outlaws were one of my favorite bands back at the time. Very talented musicians who were just incredible in the studio.

A great guy: we hooked up in '77 at the Roanoke Virginia Convention Center when they were opening for ZZ Top: they stayed at the Holiday Inn we were playing at across the street. We had a great time after the concert and before at the sound check; the Outlaws had a great Three Guitar Front!
My age: makes ya think...life is short.

Wow, sad news. Being a Florida boy, I saw the Outlaws live many times. Hughie was my fav of the 3 guitarists.
