Hello,

I have an Korean-made Standard Elite.

Because of many string changes and playing, the strings have marked their way in the saddle over the pickup. And I think, this dampens the tone a bit compared to new ones.

Is there any way, to fix this problem instead of buying a new one?

I heard of the combination of superglue + soda powder...?

Thanks for your tips and have a nice day...

I would be interested in this as well.

Beside that I would not mind buying a new pickup, but they are hard to get days, at least here in Germany.

Last year I ordered one from a local dealer and after almost seven months (!!!) it arrived from US via Fender Germany (Cost was app. 100$)

That was when rumour about Fender closing Ovation was around, and I was told that there were no more available.

Shadow has a replacement which is still available, but to me is not as good als the original.

The same about preamps....

Any ideas?

As always, contact John Budny at Ovation Repair.

I am not sure which kind of saddle you have...
But I am not sure that it matters.
The repair shop will have the replacement saddle.
(they sent me a Tru-Balance saddle... and that is definitely out of production)
I understand that the whole pickup assembly can be expensive.
But you can also just get the Plastic part... the actual Saddle.
The saddle will come out of the "Original Patented Pickup" as well as on the "Thinline".

Oh... I just looked at your avatar. Which I could have done at first.
Anyway, that is an Original Patented Pickup and the plastic saddle will pop-out if you pry it with a little screwdriver or something similar.
And the Repair Shop will definitely have one because those are still in production.
I hope that helps.

realcop, OMA might  be right....

just realized you are from Germany, like me. If you intend to get stuff from the Mini Mother we may come together and get only one package instead of two...?!
