This is probably a stupid question but, here it goes.
Today was the first time that I've used my Ovation standing up with a strap and the darn thing kept flipping up? that is to say the bottom was coming up towards me and it made it really hard to play. How do you guys deal with this problem? Or do I have a strap button in the wrong place? thank you.

The problem is reduced if the strap button is on the treble side of the heel.

There is also an attachment marketed on ebay (ironically called 'standingovation') which claims to solve this problem by giving the guitar a more squared surface to rest against your body. I have not tried it, but it would seem to make sense.

I can see where adding another button on the treble side might help...

I checked out the "Standing Ovation" attachment, that is almost funny but, not as funny as the guitar swinging outward!
It is a bit pricey? No?

Here's the link to the ebay ad.
Thank you for your input!

Yes, $25 is not insignificant. But neither is not being comfortable playing your guitar. Buy a contour bowl model for $500? Buy a wooden box guitar for $1000?

I don't know, this standing ovation thing does seem silly in a way, but who knows maybe it really does the trick? If they have a return policy I'd be inclined to try one.

I know what you're saying, I own a $1600 box without electronics.
I'm giving it some serious consideration.

I wonder if anyone on this forum owns one?

If they did, they probably wouldn't admit it! (I sure wouldn't!)

You know what? I just bought one this second. What the hell. It's got a 30 day money back policy, so worst case I'm out the shipping cost. I'll check it out and give you guys a review. Who knows, it might just work. And believe me, I've wasted money on crazier stuff than this.

This used to bother me when I first started playing Ovations, but I just got used to it. Now it feels weird when I play my other guitars that don't tilt up such as my 2080 with the contour bowl.

Did you ever receive the "Standing Ovation"?
I might have missed the review.
Thanks.

YES I GOT IT.

I want to give a review (it REALLY WORKS), but I wanted to include photos. I'll get it done this weekend. It's a stupid thing and a lot of people on this board laugh at it. But son of a gun, it actually does work and makes the guitar ride like a contour bowl when standing.
