I never give YouTube much thought, but after looking at Roman's clip yesterday, I started nosing around a little.

Here's a Harry Chapin clip that surprised me because I don't remember his using an O:

Here's an old Kingston Trio clip that reminds me how good they actually were:

And here's the one I was looking for, having seen it live in 1978. I was just blown away by Kate Bush's voice, her look and her song which is about as sophisticated a piece of music as you'll hear in the pop realm. I later learned that she was only nineteen at the time of this vid, and although Paul Shaeffer and the SNL Band did the honors, she actually played the piano on the recording. She's miles superior to Madonna and the clones who followed. I don't know why she never got any traction in the US.

Why surprised? Think of that era and a guy who spent tons of time on the road. Wasn't it said that he would drive across three states to play for 50 people for a worthy charity?
Ovations provide the most durability, reliability, repeatability.
.
YouTube is fun. You start rooting around and you never know where you'll end up. It's kinda like an overtstuffed attic. 90% crap, 5% interesting, but that last 5% are fantastic little hidden treasures.

1613 Classical. Nice Guitar.

Harry did a brief stint with that guitar.
Before that it was the obligatory MartinDred.
After the O, it was smaller-bodied Alvarez & Martins (& an occasional Guild).

Notice that the O is mic'd as well.
THAT's when the 1613's sound particularly nice . . .

The only 2 guitars I ever saw Chapin with were the Ovation classical and an Alvarez dreadnaught. And the Ovation sounded great mic'd...

One of Harry's MDreads was a 12 fret slothead.

With regard to Kate Bush not many can get away with wearing a yellow sparkly jump suit
I like that song , she had a double cd out last year i think and prior to that had been out of the lime light for a while
