Saw this on Guitar Center this morning. Anyone ever seen anything like this? Says it's a 1998-X. Coolest Epi's I have ever seen.

I assume it's an 1998 Elite Collectors custom order then.

Man that was a beautiful guitar. I'm not surprised it went quick. Probably a 1 of 1. Hopefully it went to a good home, I wish i had the dough to snag it, i would have. I've been trying to sell off a few but the market has been so weak I took them down. Couldn't even get $1000 for a mint 1537-1. Sad :-(

Tell me about it Damon. The more I thought about it the more I realized that I won't settle on $1000 for a guitar that sounds better than just about any wood top made. I decided to keep it because I know I never will find one ever again in mint condition for $1000. Nowhere. All I need is a black & white one to complete the 1537 set!. lol Need a 1538 and 1337 too while I am at it. Just need more cashola and kids who have graduated college.

Better than any wood top made but does it compare to an Adamas??

Depending on which Adamas you are comparing it too, yes I think a 1537 in some cases sounds better than some Adamas models. I played an 2009 Adamas I that had a top frequency of 83 and it just didn't have any low end or highs, it was all middle and most of the sound seemed to be coming from the upper bout of the guitar. The top just didn't have any movement going on. My 1537-4 easily sounded was better.
