Firstly Hi all

I have recently acquired an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe? CP247 (OP30 pre amp). It appears a resonable guitar. However there is very little information on the web about these (perhaps i'm looking in the wrong places!). If possible could somebody give me a brief history of this model.

Many Thanks
Daz

Welcome. The Celebrities are Korean made. The Deluxes are the Elite style. 247 is mid bowl. I can't remember what the CP stands for. I think all of them are laminated tops rather than solid. The OP30 is a good preamp with a tuner. You might be able to find more on the Ovation Guitars website.

Welcome, Daz. Don't know about the CP247, but my CP2002 is a AA Sitka solid top. with an Elite-style neck (not the usual Celeb necks - pics in my gallery).

i've also had a CP2002, it had very fat solid spruce top. but those were limited edition guitars, and normal "CP" has laminated top.

Many thanks for the info all.. very much appreciated.

I'm quite pleased with this guitar. Worked with it today, providing some great results (straight in to the desk)! Didn't even need to get my faithful Ibanez out the case.

Had to drop a couple of shims out to lower the action a touch but otherwise a good guitar.

Live gig Sat & Sunday so it'll get a real test.
