Yeah, with Steve Winwood, BB King, Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, and all those other Old Farts.

And Johnny Cash is on after that! But that is past my bedtime...

After seeing Winwood / Clapton's set, I went on Ticketmaster to see what tickets may be available for their shows at the Garden. The good news is that there were some available. The bad news is that they were $175.00 for a bad seat.

Who was that dude playing the SG in the early part of the show, fingerpicking the lead parts? WOW!

I believe that you are referring to Dereck Trucks. He plays with The Allman Brothers and has his own band as well. He is very good.

Thanks, I'm kind of "not in the know" when it comes to good guitar players. I do know a lot of bad ones though.... (you guys know who I'm talking about) :D ;)

Serge, I wasn't referring to you by any means. I personally have hired out my services playing guitar for removing paint from walls. The people in the room seem to claw it off trying to get out. (Hey, how about that, 2000 posts!) :D :p :D

Saw it last night. I thought that Clapton and Winwood's rendition of "Had to Cry Today" was incredible. They havn't lost a step and are probably even a whole lot better than they were back in the Blind Faith era.

...saw it last night.... I agree: Trucks, Winwood & Clapton made it worthwhile, especially the pure joy shown on Derek's face while playing with his heros.... the rest...yawn. Oh yes, we had Pledge Break as a bonus.

Saw it too, and as a player who can't really play, I enjoyed the whole thing. In fact I taped it so my son can see it when he gets home in a week or so. I really liked the tone of John Mayers guitar. It's the one that stood out for me, but I enjoyed it all.

I applaude Clapton for organizing such a great event. I'm sure historians will thank him. Whether it's forethought or not on his part, many of those players are getting on in years and to have them all at one event is remarkable.

I especially enjoyed Bill Murray's rendition of Gloria...
He can't really play either, made me feel better.

You guys are getting old and senile. I can't believe no one noticed Jeff Beck's young, bra-less bass player. :D

And, WOW!, she could play!
