He was unique, an American icon. He captured the craziness, bravado, and showmanship of early-late 20th century America, when we all thought anything was possible, and he proved it. He'll be missed.

69 years old. I guess all those broken bones and his crazy lifestyle caught up with him. He certainly was unique and in some ways an icon and entertainment innovator. I always thought the red, white and blue leather jumpsuits were way cool.

His biggest failure was right down the road. Beautiful golf course just down the canyon under the bridge.

I nearly killed myself (twice) because of him.

i went up into my freezing cold dark attic this morning in his honor...

How ironic, i found the motorcyle and the red launcher with the crank handle.....but i can't find the Evel doll.

I spent many a happy hour as a kid terrifying my mother as I sailed blissfully off an improvised bicycle launch ramp, channeling my inner "Evel". There were a few hard landings along the way, but it was well worth every moment.
