Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Opps....I see while I was typing to the Professor that Mike snuck in and gave a lengthy narrative much more eloquently than I could have.
The one reoccurring theme was that "Thank God Cliff is not here to deaden the strings within minutes"! ;)
The thing that amazed both of us (as Mike said) was that it did not sound like an incredible 12 string but more like a 6 string and a Nashville tuned guitar that were played together in absolute perfect harmony (with a bit of bass player thrown in).
We would play Mikes 2080-12 (the 1st ever built) and a smile would come over us and we would say "Man that sounds good".....and then we would switch and with the first strum of the B-12 the smile would turn into a shit-eating grin and we would go..."damn..the 2080-12 sounded really good until we played the B-12".
Words really can't describe how stupendous the B-12 sounds. It really is a sonic dream that surpasses any other 12 string I have heard...and not by a slim margin but by a fairly large gap. That was why I really wanted Mike to post his impressions first. I did not want to come off as a glowing idiot who was trying to justify his purchase.
Like Mike said....Adamas/Ovation did this one right...they got it perfect...and then they surpassed perfect and went into the realm of heavenly. |

I know you waited patiently, and sometimes not so patiently, but you now have a one-off custom pair that you can really be proud of. The B-12 sounds like it just might out tone any other 12 string on or off the market.
So, when does the yard sale start for all that other junk in your closets? |

Stephen, What is the scale length again? Did you ever measure how far back the bridge sits from a normal 2080 guitar? Is it the extra scale length difference? Or is/are the necks longer as well as the bridge being further back?
Just curious.

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | I wish the mothership could have come up with a case for the 2080D 12 string. It would not fit into any of the current "O" cases so they sent it to me is an Ovation soft gig bag.
When you lay it into a normal "O" case, the tip of the headstock falls just shy of the chrome ring.
Any suggestions? |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Cliff, the problem is that the slothead 12 is just about a 1 1/2 longer than a regular baritone Adamas headstock.
Maybe if you have time you can measure the dimensions of the dreadnaught case....but Rick Hall kinda made it sound like that had searched around quite a bit for one that would fit. |
