Well, Mike (Fugot) made it over the the studio today and we played around with the twins and made some very interesting observations.

Also took a ton of photos and discussed some ideas for maybe the 2009 calendar.

It was Mike's camera so we will have to wait until Mike gets through playing with them before posting.

Also, I will let Mike go first on what he thought of the sound and playability of the Twins since I might be a tad biased!

Dave....took photos of the EF75 and EJ417 for your Tak site (finally!).

Jerome...took photos of the #47RI for your site (and of course you are welcome to use the photos of the Twins!)

I only saw them through the camera LCD so I am anxiously awaiting them also.

Ooh, deep, dark and D-scaled.

Maybe a Springtime trip to CO is in order. When is Springtime in CO?

Need a black TRC on the 6. I'd shoot them with some clear too to blend more with the p/h.
They sound great though, don't they? They didn't have strings on when I saw them but I know the sound, love my 2080D, the Ovation I play the most.

Actually, the light from the camera made the TRC on the 6 look much lighter than it actually is....but it is definitely more woody than the 12 which does indeed appear to be black.

Hopefully, Mike will chime in here shortly with his comments and reviews.

Holy COW. I just joined the Adamas gang but you could rob a bank with them guns (wait a minute... I think you already must have.... either that or the bank robbed you!) I've GOTTA hear a sound clip from that equipment.

Having been in Mike's own basement, I doubt that any other collection of guitars anywhere would cause any more excitement than perhaps to raise one of his eyebrows ever so slightly. Messing up his shorts? That is more like what happened to Stephen and I when we visited Mike's basement.

Hey now,
First time on computer all day. (that and I just missed a call from some crank caller).

ok, here you go. Take the deepness of a baritone, the projection of a 12 fret slothead, the string separation and harmonic clarity that Adamas is known for.. and you mix it all together. ...........................................You come with a 12 string that sounds like a richly balanced 6 string and a whole nother much deeper sounding 6 string but both in perfect harmony.
What I mean to say is the baritone 12 didn't sound like a typical 12 string. It sounded like 2 extra clear, extra rich guitars. It was so distinctively rich and full and clear (not muddy at all-just the opposite), that if I said It was the nicest 12 string, I have ever played and possibly the nicest guitar I have ever played. It wouldn't be a lie.
I would actually bet $3.5 right here now, that T's baritone 12 is the best sounding ax in the usa right now. (limited to one taker :D ). I am actually serious. Until last year I had about 30 adamas's. Although my 1188, and 1688 are in Connecticut, So I couldn't bring them to Stephen's house. I can't think of one of my guitars that sounds better then the baritone 12. 1187-247 included. Yeah, sort of high praise for the b-12, but You all really need to hear it. From the first strum, you take notice.
Now, my 2080-12 isn't a slouch. And once Stephen tuned it right... it sounded close to the baritone 12, but just had a little less thunder to it, and a lot less of the two guitars at once sound.
Another way, stephen and I were trying to describe the b-12 sound is like this. The 2080-12 sounds full and rich, but the highs and lows are in a narrow band while the b-12 also sounds full and rich, it's highs and lows sounded separated over a wider sonic band. Sort of the B-12 gave enough sonic room for the highs, mids and lows to each vibrate freely. (figure that one out)

And what about the 6 strings. oh, it was ok.......No, it sounded crisper, cleaner and slightly fuller then my 2080. The difference was not so pronounced, but it was there. I feel the slotheads sharper break angle over the nut helps the tone, and the extra string length and bridge placement definetely helps the bottom end and overall fullness (gotta love run-ons).

The bridge placement on the baritones was a full 2 frets back from where it normally is. And stephens baritone 12 string neck is just as cool as magaritas on a summer friday with a hot babe.
I didn't even notice the longer neck until T mentioned something about it. You can slightly feel a diffference, it goes away in about 30 seconds, The neck was comfortable to, no worries.
all those other guitars T has are ok too. :p Don't get me started on his recording gear....
short story-being a 12 string fan myself, but by no means an expert, i would say Stephen has one of the most distinctive sounding 12 strings Adamas has ever made. And to have a set of baritones. Oh my goodness....
Ovation/Adamas way outdid themselves. The craftsmanship was as good as I have seen out of the factory. You just gotta givecredit where credit is due. Adamas built 2 amazing guitars anyway you look/hear it. Stephen commissioned 2 amazing guitars sight unseen/sound unheard. I believe his faith was rewarded.
I just know I had a great day- and heard tones I had never heard before.

well you asked..., peace mike
