Here is the new and so amazing 2073LX : it's a 1773LX with contour bowl. Can somebody give me his opinion about the acoustic difference between a Contour and the same guitar with mid-depth bowl as 2073LX and 1773 LX ?
Thanks
Remy

The contour bowl is basically a shaped deep bowl so it should be louder.

Wait for Moody to post - he has a custom one of these that is just fantastic to play, hear and look at. He was supposed to give it me last Christmas , but I guess it'll be this Christmas now........

I'm guessing that if you wanted/needed a nylon stringed guitar, that would be the one to get. Looks nice, and you might be able to pick it up relatively cheap with a "best offer".

An interesting side story to this ...

At Winter NAMM 2005 Ovation introduced the first contour bowl - the '05 Collector. Of course I bought one as soon as I could. Also during that same visit to LaLa land I had my first glimpse of Moody's custom 1773LX. My mind immediately put 2 + 2 together and came up with 5. Called Al to have him inquire about a custom 1773LX just like Moody's but in black, with a contour bowl.

The factory told him "NFW, that '05 Collector was a one-off. We are a roundback company and if your god damn customer doesn't like it, well that's just tough shit." At least that's how I recall it ...

Fast forward, the POS (Prophecy Of Standingovation) has indeed come true and the contour bowl has permiated the entire US product line (even the import Ultra) and that's good that folks now have a choice. Better yet, it also brings up some potential for outstanding custom orders, such as the one I dreamed of almost 3 years go. Hey Al ???

Btw, I'm holding Paul Templeman's 1773LX right now. Although I'm not a nylon player by any stretch of the imagination, I can pluck at it enough to tell you that these guitars are very nice indeed. Just needs a different bowl, in my opinion.

I've been playing my 1773LX all this last week. The acoustic sound is great (eat your heart out Country Artist fans), almost as good as a deep bowl classical, but very very comfortable with the mid depth bowl.

The same guitar with a contoured bowl? It's gotta give it an extra push in depth and volume. And for those like Dave, who swear by and are D.C.B.'s*, a 2073 LX has got to be the way to go.

Shro', I've been waiting for you to come out to CA and try and collect your guitar. Give it your best shot.......

I figure I'll need my best shotgun not my best shot. Unless you've shrunk lately?

Let me know if you need the big gun, Schroeder. I'll have the M-I-L on the next plane. Envision a cross between Dick Cheney and Mike Tyson packed into a 5'2" 115 lb frame.

He'll be on his knees inside of an hour and the only thing bloodied will be his pride.
