Just posted on Remy's thread about the classical and it reminded me about custom guitars owned by brother OFCers that I covet quite badly. The first three are (in no particular order)

JW's custom cutaway ute
paul's custom classical
dave's custom Custom Legend

followed by

tten's custom ute
stephen's baritone 2080.

There are lots of others - but those first three are just brilliant examples of what you can dream up and order from Ovation.

So what do you covet that's already in somebody's music room? (Probably Beal's music room doesn't count - the answer would be everything).

Well oddly enough the Adamas I have W597, for me is an awesome tone monster and without a doubt it is the best guitar I have ever owned. But there was this Q Adamas that Cliff had that was from another planet. I don't believe it was Cliffs home planet either. :D

Probably a Q10. Most others are variations of things I already own (or have owned and sold).

Dave....didn't you own that Adamas II slothead that now resides with Jerome?

Yeah, but that doesn't mean I can't still covet it, right? That was one of the best guitars I ever owned. Dave

Boy, this is one that's made me think....

In no particular order

1. StephenT's/Beal's 2080 longnecks.
2. ttenn's custom U681
3. JW's custom U681

and crowding that list is Stonge's butt ugle phonalic topped Adamas I (if you don't know what that is, don't even bother asking -- it really can't be described, but it's often, when I go to CT, the one guitar that I want to bring back)

I am really looking forward to playing JW's custom U681. Seems to be universal acclaim as to how good it is.

I wish I could figure out a way to bring the 2080D 12 string to the island in March but I really hesitate to ship it when all I have is a soft case due to it's extra headstock length.

I'm already so lucky to have all the O's and A's that I owns but I have to admit that I'll be the happiest guy in the world to get the following models:

- 1 : Colin's Slothead #45 (I don't sleep since that guitar is for sale and I'm counting each cent every night... )
- 2 : Fugot's Adamas Wood Top SSB (How can I resist since 2 days???)
- 3 : Fugot's Contemporary Folk Classic (One of the 4 ever made)
- 4 : Dave's Adamas I 1687-8S SSB custom made for Alan Holdsworth
- 5 : Al's Adamas proto #12 (the twin sister of my #11)

and so many others... ;)

J :)

s28...just put it in your backseat and drive...I would be willing to throw a few bucks in for gas...let's see 3600 mile round trip...30 miles per gallon (hopefully)...120 gallons of gas at let's say $3.20 per gallon...hmmm $384.00 give or take for fuel...food and lodging...2 days travel each way...oh, never mind.

I sure would like to see it in person and hear it though! :D :D

And here I was thinking I was the only person coveting ttenns adamas. When he had it up briefly for sale I was broke,

1)12 string baritone adamas
2) ttenns whatever it is called
3) gc shiny bowl 12 and 6 (sort of, I mean I have the other 6 first models-I guess ia ma past the point of no return here)
4) Mr Keller's adamas bass
5) custom shop hand laid bowl 2080 slothead 6 string with anything but vip electronics in it. (if possible to hand lay the contour bowl).

6) mwoody's (sold) ovation baritone had me dizzy as well.. that's it really

I have one custom order in mind - that's the only one I covet - but it has to wait til next year (if Fender is willing to build it):

12fret handlaid contour bowl textured top slothead wideneck, acoustic only - in a not very popular colour - and other cosmetic changes.

For this guitar I would give some other O's away. Would be everything I want in an Adamas.

Well, since coveting anything is part of the “Thou Shall Not’s” listed in the 10 Commandments (just in case you're paying attention...), I have to truly say I am very happy with the now 12 O's and A's I own...I am truly blessed...sure, there are a few I would like to one day add to my collection: but if it happens: GREAT...if not: I'm still a happy guy! However, I have one surprise that I will be sharing the news about soon! Stay tuned; be happy; keep pickin!

Dobro, it's a supershallow bowl Adamas I. It was for sale here in SoCal and needed a neck reset very very badly. They were asking way too much for it. Finally, they put it on the 'bay for a better price. Dave bought it and had it sent to the factory. They did the reset and put it back in an almost, like new condition. It's unique in that it's not a cutaway.

To see it, go to http://www.ovationgallery.com then click on Adamas then go to Adamas Custom 6 String.

Mike, you got me thinking.... it's not that I covet the guitars I listed (I have too many fine instruments to covet anymore), but they are the ones I particularly admire that I don't own.....

Yeah, a SS non-cutaway Adamas I. This is a VERY cool guitar. Paul makes it sound like they gave it away! But I think it was still the most expensive non-slothead Adamas 1687 that I'd seen on ebay in a very long time.

Paul, nothing inferred at all to anyone...believe me, there are a lot of instruments that I have admired and perhaps some that I might like to own (GAS is incurable): but this has been such a stellar year for acquiring fine guitars that I really can't think of anything I'd want so badly now that I'd be obsessed about it: not that it couldn't happen, but I really cherish my family and even with our new house, guitar room is at a premium, lol! Besides, with my newest acquisition, there is (as all will soon see) literally nothing left on my "wish list"...stay tuned...(no, its not an original slothead...that's out of my league for the time being...lol), but it is something really nice!
;)
