You get the new issue of a guitar magazine and the only people you recognize are in the "Final Note" column.

While meant to be funny it is too close to the truth. I just got the new Vintage Guitar mag and it's less than half, maybe even less than a quarter, of the featured people I've heard of. Either I need to get out more or the world needs to spend more time coming to Amelia.

Try looking back in your old guitar mags. I was looking at some the other day. Big hair Bon Jovi holding an Ovation. There's the kind of coverage you can sink your dentures into.

Well... your little clinic is bringing new folk to the island. Wether it's the type of folk your are looking for is yet to be seen.

you're definitely Over-The-Hill when you listen to more dead musicians than living.

When you're stopped at the crosswalk in your male menopause mobile, trying to look cool in case the hot babe notices you,...and her daughter runs up and says, "Hey, Mom, look at that old Porsche."
Or when a band plays the oldies and they're all from the era when you were singing nursery rhymes and Sesame Street tunes to your kids.
Or when you're telling a story to someone who can't figure out why you didn't just call someone on your cell phone or look it up on your computer.
There are too many examples for me.

.....when your son's friends (all musicians) see your Ovation and Adamas collection and remark that they have never heard of that brand before. :(

Halfway through a gig last year, this Under30 hottie sachets-up t'make a request and says:

". . Wow! . . y'know, you can really SING. . for an, . . an, . . . . ."

I said "SAY it!! . . . for an "OldGuy"!!"

(I secretly wished a YeastInfection on her . . .)

Old is when you realize that you have not only lost your dignity, but that you're not really bothered by the loss. Yesterday in a staff meeting, a lady sitting next to me passed a note to me that my zipper was down. I felt very little embarassment, and was actually more impressed that she noticed.

That reminded me, "You know you're getting old when you forget to zip up your fly. You know you're really old when you forget to zip it down."

Once upon a time I swore I would never get so old that I didn't know what was current in the music field. In the last 10+ years I have had to rely on young people to find new music worth listening to because I don't have the patience (or the social connections) to find the new artists....or the memory to recall all their names. (Took me forever to remember to listen to Jack Johnson.)

You know you're old, when some kids, 18 years olds, say, within earshot, while your playing a guitar in a music store:

"Man, I love listening to these old guys play the blues, they've really lived."

Or when your niece says, Uncle Rick, why do those cd's have such big covers, and you say, sweetheart, those are record albums, and she says, oh, I've heard of those.

Y'need to rework the Offspring song/rap into a folkie arrangement that would go:

"N'everybody says I'm pretty fly
For an old guy"

Old is when the most important thing in your life is comfortable shoes.

as long as you have fresh minds and good health, age doesn't matter.
There are 25 years old guys who are older and more tired by life than 60 y.o. grandpas. As long as You feel young, you're young.

I once read, "You're only as old as the women you feel."

But my wife wouldn't let me buy the book.
