Hy everybody!

I have a Celebrity Deluxe CS257, 1993. model. And, in last few months, i have a problem with it. My 6.th string (E) has a very low output, and is a LOT quiter than the other strings. I don't know what to do with it, and don't know why did that happen...

Can it be fixed, or, can I replace the whole pickup, is there any way, because my Ovation is almost unusable in this condition... ?

Welcome. Sounds like a bad piezo crystal in the pickup. Contact your local Ovation dealer, they can order a new pickup/saddle assembly. They're easy to replace yourself, or the dealer can do it in a few moments.

Yes, but I'm in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and there is no dealer.

Do you know where I can buy a pickup?

First I would try the Ovation website.

But if that don't work, you can be creative.
Since it is difficult to file Real Ovation parts, you might have to make something similar.
If your saddle and pickup look like the one on the left, get the parts on the right.

You can find or create a saddle that will fit in the slot on the bridge...
And you can get the Artec PP607 online.
Here is where I got mine! They are in Hong Kong so they ship Worldwide.

Then you will have to sand down the saddle height, but I am sure you can make it work.
If you don't do it yourself, get the parts and then take them to your luthier craftsman and let him/her figure it out.
I hope that helps.

Thanks!

What is the quality of Artec PP607, like the one on Ovation?

Couldn't tell you, really. Never got to do a side-by-side.
The Ovation Celebrity saddle-pickup in the photo came out of a CK047.
It has a similar problem, the high treble strings (B&E) stopped working.
So I created a new one with the parts shown.
(I just bought two pickups... Y'know, one for next time)

After I installed the PP607, I played the guitar for about a year before I sold it.
It worked real well on the street corner.
And people recognized the "Ovation Sound" and commented on it.
So I guess the Artec sounds similar enough.

The CK047 had an OP20 preamp, and the pickup plugged right into the can.
I don't know if you have the OP24+ in yours, but just check to be sure that the pickup plugs in.
If it does, that Artec will fit.
