Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | The FD14 returned home from the Mothership abduction and is looking store-bought-new (I'll rub some dirt on it later) and sounding great.
I was surprised that the new top sounded as played-in as it does. I know that Cedar can have this property which in part distinguishes it from spruce but oddly, the FD14, seems NOT to possess another common characteristic of Cedar that being, it's easily over-driven.
This guitar, even with the cedar top has a very high ceiling, nearly impossible to over-drive the top short of strumming hard enough to start breaking strings.
Such a cool guitar. |

Location: UK | A breaking of the strings can be caused by the tenious relationship between the bridge and the rough nudge on the tenth fret causing undue stress to the lower nodule , my understanding is that this particular problem is exasserbated by bracing issues on the FD14 in particular , but im no expert , howerver do PM me if you want to delve into this issue further unless of course your under 5ft 1" with a centre parting |

Location: Boise, Idaho | A little spilled beer combined with sweat is what I use to season my guitars. I guess I use that to season about everything. I haven't done it with my wife's Cayman yet, but she complained that my farts ruined her new car smell. It's her fault for feeding me. |
