My new toy, fresh out from Fugot's basement vault, Hamer's top shelf Improv, serial No. 6, in Jazzburst. I'm such a sucker for these thin, hollow bodied, difficult to classify, hybrid guitars. Played it for about 30 minutes last night. Build quality is, of course, sensational, but what is absolutely amazing about this guitar is its feather weight. I'm not a fan of flat wound strings so I'll be changing those this weekend. Also picked up Fugot's SSB wood topped Adamas prototype detailed in his for sale forum. The prototype hasn't been played much, certainly not very recently, but it has a nice broken-in feel like it has been played for many years, very similar to Mark's Slothead No. 43 and my 1651. I couldn't put the prototype down. Oh, yeah, thanks to Al, I also picked up a new Genz Pro which is super quiet and provides a terrific warm acoustic tone thanks to the built-in tube preamp. Think I'll play some Christmas carols.

I think the Improv is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. I wish I played well enough to justify the cost.

Mike's seller remorse kept it from happening sooner but Brad's persistence paid off!

I think this is the only production (well, sort of) guitar made with an ebony pickguard and tailpiece.

The improv is much happier residing in a real musicians homestead. Absolutely clean lows..the true test of any ax. and as a side note, Hamer's are slowly but surely getting more respect in the marketplace...the Hamer used prices are starting to go up as more players become aware of Hamers great tones and solid builds.
But if you know Brad, you know he doesn't buy to sell. What are there like 24 Improv's in the world?? Someday when I am a super over the top rich songwriter, I will order another sunburst improv...and a koa vxt and a.... :) :)
Thanks Brad, my guitar karma has just gone up, proto's and improvs can't be sold to just anybody... mahalo
