Location: CA | Recently got an old but new-to-me 1567 Legend SSB (serial #313367). It's been WELL used (fine with me) but is still in decent shape. The question I have regards the action, which is higher than almost any guitar I've ever seen or owned.
A year or so ago, I purchased an excellent download from Kip Bradford on how to set up a guitar. I followed it to the letter on another newer O I had and it was spot-on. So, armed with that and the equally excellent 'how to set up' instructs that came with my 1778T, I tore into the Legend. Did a slight neck adjustment to specs, but then I ran into trouble. When I got the saddle and pickup out, there were NO shims underneath it. So now I'm a bit stumped. The top has a very slight 'hump' below the bridge, but nowhere near as pronounced as the one on my old 1111-4, and that guitar has great action.
Long story short, I will probably be taking this guitar in to have a professional look at it and likely work on it. I'm just wondering if anyone here can enlighten me as to why the instrument has this problem and what a pro might do to fix it. Thanks much. |

And another thing: send it to the factory. |

Location: CA | Thanks much. I will try to confirm this tonight and report back tomorrow. This really sounds like what's going on. And do I assume correctly that the correction involves removing the neck and doing whatever? All things considered, Mothership is looking like the best option all around for this guitar. Hope it doesn't cost an arm and leg. Well, the leg I can spare, but I need the arm for playing! |
