I have a couple of unusual Breadwinner/Deacon/Preacher style pickups. Around 1990 I ordered a pair of spare pickups from the factory. They're both bridge pickups, and the one I have in my parts box measures a whopping 20.7K. I guess it must be wound with really small wire and/or extra turns. I have one in my Viper and it has lots of midrange and a sort of compressed sound. Not high output though. Does anyone have an idea what these pickups were meant for? If I recall correctly, all the original pickups in my Breadwinner and Deacon are around 10.5K.

They look just like all the other mini-humbucker sized Ovation pickups with two rows of magnets. Red and black wires plus a black ground wire soldered to the backplate. The backplate is silver colored, not plain brass.

I'm guessing that they were made for a special purpose and then worked their way into the parts bin after solidbody production stopped. When I got them I didn't realize that they were both bridge pickups. I didn't know the magnet spacing was different for neck and bridge.
