Where are the good places to go? I'm on the west side of town (Chestnut Hill) and will be downtown several times during the week.

The BEST guitar shopping in Philadelphia is actually not downtown. Take a couple of minute drive across the river to a town called Bellmawr. Better call ahead, they say "We Never Close", but it is the holidays and all that. Anyway, the name of the place is "Lost Art Vintage Instruments". Without question the finest selection of Ovation and Adamas stuff you'll ever find under one (new) roof. Plus Hamer and Takamine to boot! Dave

Dave,

I'm just out kicking tires, no serious shopping. Wouldn't want to bother Al 'till I'm ready to drop some coin. I'm hoping to find some upper end Taks, maybe an interesting OM Martins, or perhaps a Levarrie or two to test out. My brother in law says that Bellmawr is about 35 minutes from here.

Yes, AL has the best in stock and in price. Also, there's a place on the border of Philly in Bryn Mawr, called Medley Music, on Lancaster Ave. I actually met Rick Hall there on an Ovation promo night a few years back. They have a good selection, and are one of the few larger independently owned music stores around.
