My uncle passed away and these are a few of his that he had in the past. I’m desperately trying to find any of them to keep them in the family.
I thought the first one was an Ovation Adamas however I just saw one on Ebay that looks identical (just not this one) that states it is a 1992 Collectors Series , I'm looking for AS MUCH info on all of them as possible...Model Numbers, Year Made, etc...

Obviously, there are plenty made of each model but do you think I could POSITIVELY identify any of these 3 guitars by the grains? The 2nd one would be harder.

Thanks!

Well doing some searches on here, it looks like the middle one is a 1995 Century Adamas. Is that correct? That means I only have to find it among 50 made, correct? How would I be able to ID this without a serial number?

Have you checked the label inside the epi's hole. There should be a model number and serial number. Take a look and let us know - then we can help :)

Sorry. I should clarify. I don't have them. I am trying to find them. Ebay, craigslist, pawn shops, etc...

On the 1st and 3rd I think I could POSITIVELY identify them by the grains without having a serial number but I think the 2nd one would be difficult.

The third one is a 1992 model 6868 Angel Step Walnut Elite. The second is definitely an Adamas Century, and I'm not sure about the top one. It almost looks like one of the collector's models...does it have any unusual inlay at the 12th fret?

Hey, for that first one, check this out:

1992 Collector\'s Series

That would fit in with the age of the other guitars you have.

Awesome! I'll keep looking around.

On ebay, item number 190186659147 looks just like the first and it's listed as 1992 Collector Edition.

Any advice on POSITIVELY identifying the Century one should I come across one by the picture I have? The other 2 I "THINK" I could ID based on the grains.

Maybe it could be done once you consider the grain in the epaulets and the body. If you think you have it, you could trace the owners back to your uncle... perhaps.

Welcome to the club.

Well, I certainly appreciate everyones help! I think it's going to be hard for me to find so that's when I made the search more broad and added these 3...I'm most importantly looking for a Alvarez 2555s Silver Anniversary but will search for any of his. Anyone here in St. Louis???

Also, I know these are horrible and small pics but any idea what model this is??? I'm not familiar with any of this so have no idea how common/unique these may be

The figured ones you might find by the markings, other than that, without serial numbers it's pretty much a shot in the dark.

There's been a Century up on ebay for a while, and the '92C - the ASW Elite 12's and 1885's come up every once in a while too. None of those is terribly common, so who knows.

Oh, and Tuppy...gotta move faster! ;)

Were they sold off, stolen, or what?
Trying to track down specific guitars, indentifying them by the grain patterns, will be quite a quest without S/Ns.

Well, he had some issues and were constantly in pawn shops, etc... However, I have searched high and low at the pawn shops and think they have been bought by people at pawn shops or sold to individuals that I probably have never met. However, now that I've identified the models, etc...I now have 5 that I'm looking for. Better odds of running across one of them if there is 5 instead of one

Is the model number 6868 correct? I can't seem to find info on this one?

Also, on the Adamas II 1885-NB5...Does anyone know what year and how many were made. The chart at ovation needs the serial for the adamas's

Trying to track down the specific guitars previously owned by your uncle without the benefit of good serial number records is going to be extremely difficult. In addition, what is it you're planning to do in the event you actually do find one of the very models? I missed a similar opportunity about a year ago. 50 years ago, a OTR truck driving neighbor of my parents loaned me his Gibson ES-125 3/4 scale and a tube amp when I was first learning to play. I kept it 10 years until I moved out of the house in 1969, at which time I returned it to him. A few years ago, now retired, he called my parents out of the blue and informed them that he had just moved into the same general area where they lived. When I learned this, I asked my Dad to inquire if he still had the Gibson. He had sold it and the amp just two months before. It had remained literally unplayed since the day I returned it to him. Nuts.

I know it's going to be difficult but I will watch ebay, craigslist, pawn shops every day. If I find one, I'll certainly make it worth the owners wild to sell it.

Professor- Did you ask him who he sold it to? Even if he didn't want to give out the name/number, he could maybe get in touch with the person for you.

I want my for sentimental reasons. I don't even play. Just want to keep it in my family

Also, if I had to guess, I would imagine most of them are still around the St. Louis area

My bad on the number - the 12 string would be a 5858, with the 6-string version as 5868.

If you look up the Ovation price history on their website, they have production years and list price for all their models on it.

I understand the desire to find those guitars, but suppose you found those models of guitars. How would you, without the serial numbers, even know if they were your uncle's guitars? Unless you've got something that identifies them, it seems pretty hopeless to me. Sorry.....

Looking at that 5858 angel step. It gives a price for 1992 and 1993 but looking on Ebay at an ad for it and it says 1991??? Thoughts?
Also, is it the same as the N858? http://www.ovationguitars.com/index.cfm?fa=detail&mid=1382
