For some reason, never saw this post on the Welcome Center back in August of 2013, appears that poster (JL Fields) never got to general posting.

He stated that it is a 1718-X Garris Prototype for the thinline p/u (Elite). Possibly bought from Corner Music in Nashville.

I have a 1718-X Garris Prototype (#091791 or 9/17/91) from Beal (having spent a little time in his father's basement). Does not have cross bracing and is similar to the bracing for the Adamas as shown on Jerome's site.

Much like the 1537 as to the neck but ivoried binding, FET 3 pre-amp, and less fancy wood for the epaulets. As acoustic, brighter than the 1537 (or less 'woody') but good balance between the tenor and bass.

Recent statement by Beal that the "thinline p/u was slanted like one of the c-series. I think it was a Fishman pickup." Looking inside, definitely appears to be a different mounting and wiring.

Not sure if anyone has any additional info...

Perhaps a good OFC Calendar candidate?
