Folks often ask me why I love the FD14 electronics so much better than a lot of the other preamp configurations ...

Dave,

I agree with you. Simple is better. I rarely touch the EQ on my 1758 and I love the simple stacked tone/volume on my Country Artist. I'm sitting here with my 97 Collectors and I looked inside at the PC board thinking, Boy a lot of potential problems.

BTW Jeff. I'd turn the Orange one. But then I'm from Tennessee and we like Orange down here. :D

I think I see your problem with the VIP-5.
Your 'Suck' knob is turned up just past 7, while the
'Cool' button is not engaged.

Turning the Suck down to 1.5 or less while making sure the Cool button is depressed should solve all your problems.

BTW: The Cool button feature does not work for DADGAD tunings. No one knows why.

While the first one is nice, I do like all the pretty knobs......however

Phil, I think this is the one that you and Jeff should use the next time you collaborate on a song.

Good thing you have a second chance to shine with the tune I will be sending your way next week

THAT's the one I've seen...for very good reasons.

On topic - simpler is ALWAYS better for me. My favorite preamp is the Optima not for the bells & whistles, but just for the actual tone and the tuner.

So, I wonder what equipment/plugins these really came from.

One of the reasons I like the OFC Adamas and the Viper electric has always been my favorite.

TWO KNOBS, 1 VOL, 1 TONE

No way a viper beats a Deacon/Breadwinner. It isn't that complicated. Sorry, Miles.

And the FD is even better, no knobs, just plug it in.
