Not sure if this has been covered - but I gave myself a couple yuks last night as I opened a case I had not been into for a while. I found a couple old tortex picks, what appears to be a very rusty "e" string...an empty bottle of Professor Farley's String Sudser (anyone else remember that stuff?) and believe it or not... a snickers bar and an old television remote control - I have long since replaced. I cannot figure out how the remote got there...and I'll take the 5th on the other stuff. It made me empty out the more commonly used guitar's compartment - nothing but the typical - pics - tools - capo.... etc. So....what's in your storage compartment?

Sounds like you watch TV and play guitar at the same time, like I do. I usually find the remote in the cushions, though. I cleaned out all the cases, only leaving the manuals, receipts, etc. that came with the guitars. The only oddity I have is the homemade (by Alaska Fly Guy) humidifier in the Ute case.

Usually -- empty, the key to the case if it came with one, or original parts if any have been replaced.

There's still the original purchase receipt for the 12 string, purchased in 1977. Other than that it should just be normal stuff in the other cases, but honestly they haven't been cleaned out recently.

I sometimes will leave the reciept for that guitar in there and maybe a set of strings.
All the other junk is now in a gig bag, an old Trace Elliot amp head bag. Keep all the shit in one place, it's easier to know where to look for it then in a panic.

Whatever is placed in the case by the factory or the former owner. I rarely look once I remove the guitar and stash the case in some other part of the dungeon. Everything I need stays in the gig bag, and I am now down to using two soft cases for gigging.

I have been using a Access Photographers bag to do the same thing.

The compartment in my MagnumIV case has a yellowed, piece of lined loose-leaf note pad with a hand-scrawled note from John Budney sucking-up to Charlie Kaman (or maybe it was Beal) after servicing the electronics in it . . .

I'll have t'scan it & post it.
(sorry, JB) ;)

that should be interesting to read.

Is sucking up in 2008 the same as it was in the 80's?

Stay tuned!

I don't even keep the guitar in the case. I just use them to take up space in the closet.
