Was watching 'Eddie and the Cruisers II — Eddie lives!" the other night and there was an Ovation in the movie. You only see it for a few seconds in the background, and then from the back, but the tailpiece is a dead giveaway. The scene is in the hotel room (about halfway through the movie) when his new girlfriend asks him to play a tune.

That this made enough of an impact on me to mention here kind of scares me. Like I've crossed a threshold or something and there's no going back.

It starts ;) . You'll know there's no hope when you have to edit your signature creatively so you can list all the Ovations/Adamii in your possession.

The fact that you were watching 'Eddie and the Cruisers II' is kind of scary as well ;) I know because I like them as well... just some of the worst acting I've ever seen.

But you've got an excuse, CL, being from NJ. When Oddball said he was watching Eddie, I immediately looked at his location, thinking that he must be from NJ.

Edited: I looked at Wikipedia and I see that the Beaver Brown Band is from RI, but they WERE the poor man's E-Street band, hence the confusion.

I'm actually from NY... still not sure how I ended up here. I must've missed my exit on the turnpike and never found my way back.

"poor man's E-Street band" equates to "Instant Shite" . . . just add water for a hot, Jersey cuppa steaming spoo . . .

Not wanting to start another "sighting" thread...

Just never thought of Gino Vanelli as a guitarist. I think his lead player is also playing an O.

Just got back from seeing Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story. There's an Ovation in it....among several other things!

A good laugh/satire....though surprisingly warm and gentle satire.

I loved the fact that there was a lot of very cool musical gear in this movie. I think the O was a 1617 legend. They must have had a serious musical historian working on the movie because all the instruments were more or less directly in time context.

I went to see this with my 17 yr old daughter and we just didnt look at each other during the scenes at the beginning in the black music dance club and later in the Hotel scene (ahem!). I thought Jenna Fischer did a wonderful job as ever and aged beautifully. Certainly not a perfect movie, but I felt the music and themes were parodied beautifully.
