Can anyone tell me how the neck on myCustom Legend 1869 (1992 ) is fastend to the body and, if it is bolt on are there any problems in removing and replacing it?

Thanks James.

If it's a bolt-on neck, you should be able to see the hex bolt head(s) through the sound hole. If you don't see any bolt heads, then it's glued on.

If it bolts on, it's just a matter of splitting the glue joint holding the fretboard extension to the sound board, then unbolting the neck from the body.

Hi Dan,

No bolts visible so it's staying where it is.

Thanks again James

You might want to double-check whether it's got a bolt-on neck by using a mirror to look inside the bowl.

The 1869 uses a SSB, which means it's only got one bolt holding the neck onto the body. As I recall when I did a neck reset on my friends 1983 CE, the bolt was set rather close to the top and wasn't really visible without the use of a mirror.

There's a couple of necks for sale on eBay right now. One is a 2-bolt neck and the other is a 1983 CE 1-bolt neck. These should give you a good idea about what you're looking for.

2-bolt:

I also found a video on YouTube showing how to remove an 1869 neck and it's definitely a bolt-on neck:
