Hello from out in lurker-land.......I don't think I've seen these mentioned in any of the "which strings" threads, so I will offer up my favorites (despite cost and not being available at every 7-11), which are Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum and Spectrum series. The former involve some silk in them, so are nice for folkier applications, or blending in a mix with others (low tension, so easier on the fingers and guitar as well); the latter are all brass/bronze (yellow metal anyhow), so sound "large" and will cut through most anything (musically speaking; have not tried them as a cable saw for removing tree branches, etc.). They tune up and stay put quickly and last (for me, you mileage will vary) on par with the dreaded strings-wearing-condoms that are Elixars.

I get them from juststrings.com with no muss or fuss, but you can also get their US Importer, John Connally and Co, to build you custom sets (which I happen to need for a custom 12-string baritone...but that's another story)and they will discount as well.

I've journeyed through most of the brands mentioned here at some point, but my journey ended with T-I.

Thomastik are the bee's knees, the cat's ass and the dog's bollocks as far as I'm concerned. I use the Plectrums on my ute 12 and they are superb. Soft yet loud, great strummed and even better played single string (should that be double string?).
