I've got two of these stands, one with folding legs, the other a tripod model that slides up the main post. One the latter model, the release lever to adjust the height has become sticky gooey to the point you hate to touch it. The other one is fine

No solvents have been wiped on them. Used and stored in air conditioned home so no environmental issues. Has anyone else had/have this problem? If so, did you work with Hercules for a replacement? Just curious about their customer support.

I think Hercules will replace those. It was a problem with the type of plastic they used - the new ones are better.

I had 2 that went sticky and then fell apart at the hinge pin. My local guitar shop contacted Hercules and they said they were aware of the problem with the plastic they used and that they would replace them, no problem.

It took a while, but the replacements eventually turned up. I asked what they were going to do with my old ones and they said Hercules told them to just throw them in the skip.

So I took them home, cleaned off the sticky gunk with acetone, rebuilt the broken hinges with a Dremmel, epoxy and staples and now I've got 4 Hercules stands.

Aussie James had a different story. He has about 10 of them and they all fell apart much more spectacularly than mine, but his local shop just said 'tough'!
