If you are using IE, open IE and click on 'File' which is one of the menu on top of the IE page. Under 'File' you will see 'Import and Export' and click on that and follow the instruction. In your case, you need to Export Favorites to a thumb drive or floppy drive. After you purchase a PC, you reverse by going through the same procedure but this time do the import from the thumb drive (or floppy drive) where you have saved the 'Favorites' folder

John: IE... but I am going to try firefox based your your recomondation.

Paul: After shopping the Dell / HP /Gateway / Best Buy thing I went with having one built up at a small, local 'puter shop. I was able to have better control over the components and was able to avoid Vista.
Accually the "old" 'puter is going to be wiped clean and re-programed. It's become s l o w and at times, jumpy. The new 'puter will be in the music / scrapbook room and NOT hooked up to the internet. It will be just for Pam's scrapebooking and my music and video projects.

STX... I found & tried the export feature with no luck. I'll follow your directions and see how it works. THANKS!!

STK has it right for IE, just do the export/import process and save it to something external to the computer.

Brad, you might want to consider a dual boot with a small partition dedicated to the internet with a common download section.

That will give you the ability to download updates for music critical software and OS while maintaining a relatively lean music machine.

Brad, my advice is go to the Dell web site. You can still get Windows XP and they are just about giving the things away, especially desk-top machines. Only down side is you have to wait a week or so for delivery.

New computer hooked up to the internet only for a couple days while the old one is cleaned out. Then the new one will go into the music / scrapbook room. I would have gone without the internet for a few days but my son needs it for school.
The "mission" was not to loose important information.
