Random quote: "Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now." - Jol Dantzig |
Who else but a guitar player . . .

And I had to buy my own lunch. I must be weak in the head, because each month I do pretty much the same thing, but it's only a 60 mile round trip.

I loaded up some gear on a green garden cart, wheeled it across the street to a temporary stage the city set up in the park, and we played along the route for a marathon race. We were told that we'd have an audience estimated to be over 5,000, but each runner heard only about 15 seconds worth as he or she ran by. Kind of strange. Hard to build a fan base doing rock'n'roll marathons.

My friend J and I started to play, a dude sat down at the djembe, and we all started jamming', plain songs and haven fun. Next thing I know, there were 40-60 people crowded 'round just listening, havin' a good time. It was pretty cool... Then the funniest thing happened, a gal walked into the circle, said "I don't know if we're supposed to, but here..." and threw a dollar down on the ground in front of us. It came out to $.33 ea, I kept the extra penny cuz I sang.
