Or so says SWMBF. At least she's allowing me the one out/one in option. She was a bit angry when the box showed up.

Anyway... I found this Tornado on the Milwaukee Craigslist a couple of months ago listed for $400. The guy was very hard to get in touch with - he owns a Tattoo shop and works alot. I thought we had a deal - ended up being more of a misunderstanding. I found this out when I saw it on Ebay for $500. I reached him on the phone and we settled for the $400.

Appearance wise, I would give it a 9/10. A few minor dings but that's about it. The neck is straight and virtually in perfect condition. I love the burst on this one. That's what attracted me in the first place. The tailpiece and knobs were replaced, but the originals were included. I put the original knobs back on but left the Bigsby.

Functionally, when I plugged it in, one of the PUPS wasn't working. I took the whole thing apart - not so bad - checked all of the wiring, condition of components, etc. and everythink looked good. I put it back together - what a PAIN in the ass! I plugged it back in and everything worked. The tuners all work but a couple of them are a little loose and one is bent. I would give it an 8/10 for functionality.

It is serial number B046.

Here's a free legal opinion. Since I'm sure you found it last year, it is the last guitar you buy for 2007. 2008 is a clean slate. I'm still trying to figure out how to use that interpretion on my 2 year moratorium.

You're assuming that I'm dealing with a reasonable person. It arrived this year so it's from this year.

I fully intended to quietly meld this one into the collection without her noticing. Unfortunately, my son stayed home sick from school and I was travelling, so she had to take the day off. Talk about rotten luck! Then I take the little booger to the doctor the next day and he's fine.. I owe him one!

Looks like maple neck, rosewood fretboard? Or is it older ebony?
Top looks like spruce, what's the body look like?

If you ask me it's a beaut!

Rick - the top is laminated spruce. The neck is maple w/rosewood fretboard. The specs say the body is maple.

Brad - since we're sharing a room - I expect you to keep me on the straight and narrow! I was able to walk away from the factory tour unharmed, I'm sure I can survive this.

Good luck with that.
I just love spending other peoples' money.
And turns out I'm pretty good at it.

No, CL, I was not assuming your wife was reasonable. Mine's not. I can make the most logical arguments and I never prevail. It's tough when the judge and the opposing party are the same person. I live under the first rule of marriage: The guy always loses. The second rule is: There is "our" money and there is "her" money, but there is never "his" money. A corollary of the second rule is that she "saves" money by buying something on sale, but he "spends" money when he finds a good deal. For all other arguments, see the first rule. It's quite simple really.

At least she thought the Mandolin was cute. That saved me some aggravation.

Always wanted to play one of these. Used to have a Gretch like this back in the day for a short time. They were going out of favor and I went for a solid body shorty after but I have so many applications now one of these would be very welcome. Very interesting semi. ! Enjoy.

That thing looks to be in better shape than what I just got. Congrats!

BTW, mine doesn't say anything on the pickguard. I wonder why?
