first... what are your thoughts on this model

and second... what would you pay for it?

its a gift so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Kate, I really am not familiar with the 157, but I did own a cc057 at one time. A really nice guitar for the money. I think it had the op24 preamp, if i'm not mistaken. I bought it for about 160.00 used in great shape with the case. Celebs can be bought pretty cheap if you look around.

Show some moxie, girl; I know you have it in you. Buy a solidbody and ROCK THE HOUSE! Several arguably collectible models, all reasonable in price, were made by Ovation up to about '85, and perhaps beyond. Workmanship is top-notch, electronics are optimal for the day, you get a cool guitar, what else is there? You can sit out on the porch playing acoustic stuff when you're 75. Live a little!
