Just bought an Ovation Idea and I can't seem to make it play through an amplifier. I navigate to the play setting on the menu, but it does not seem to be getting the signal from the pre-amp. I also noticed in an on line video review that the OPi-1 pre-amp module is removeable from the guitar and can function by itself. Mine is attached to a cable that is securely wired to the inside of the guitar. Were there changes made along the way ? Thanks for any help.

That cable is so that the preamp doesn't get separated from the guitar while in the store.

Be sure to check the volume setting with the Toggle Joystick.
It controls the volume of the MP3 Tracks.
The volume slider controls the overall volume of both the MP3's and the guitar itself.

Read your instructions carefully.
Go do research at http://www.ideafordummies.com/

Also go to Ovation's Download site http://www.ovationguitars.com/support/downloads

Plus, there are a bunch of instructional videos on YouTube
