Location: NJ | Yeah, that may BE, but in order t'get that authentic, 70's "Jersey GarageBand Sound", there's certain criteria that needs t'be met:
First of all, the fuses in the amps need to be augmented with at least TWO "wraps" of foil-based chewing gum wrapper (Wrigley's adds a bit "warmer" tone).
"Ground" is for p@ssies.
NO respectable JerseyBasement had 3-prong outlets.
A good pair o'ViseGrips, 5 or 6 strong-arm "wiggles", and that third prong'll pop out of that plug like a Brit cuspid.
Christmas tree lights make the absolute BEST extension cords (and they're ALREADY "two-prongers"). The ability of now having a "light show" is an added bonus.
Those screw-in adaptors that allow you to plug two (if you're a "wimp") amplifiers into a single ceramic pull-chain ceiling light fixture are GOLD!
(especially in high water-table areas).
60-cycle "hum" CAN be minimized by wrapping the FIRST extension cord (in the chain) around the mic stand 6 or 7 times (CCW).
Mould is an insulator.
Anybody stupid enough t'sit in yer OldMan's painted metal patio chair while wearing a "live" guitar has NO place in "the band" (but DO make for funny-ass "auditions" . . .) |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Did you know that a .22 bullet works well in the standard fuse holder? There was a great Darwin award story about a guy using one in his car. Supposedly got hot enough to shoot himself.
Tuppy's adaptor actually needs the standard modification of filing the larger prong down to the size of the smaller one. Don't do it on a grinder, though or you melt the insides of the adapter. Cliff's method of pulling off the ground plug is much more universally excepted. |
