Anyone know a good source of downloadable backing tracks for practice purposes? Ideally ones where you can vary the tempo, key etc., to use on PC and/or Android devive. I'm even willing to pay !

seems that would be more of a midi based solution if you wanted all that control.

I do pretty much exactly what you're asking for with Guitar Pro. Many of the GP files on the tab sites have the full band, not just the guitar piece

I found this awhile back. None of the bells and whistles you want but quite useful for me. They have several genres to choose from... very full site with incredible resources.

It must have been an accident as I didn't set out to. Guess I'll go take a nap on my awesome mattress to celebrate!

+1 on the awesome site

It's been a while since I've done a backtrack Ozzy cover, I might have just been inspired.

I'm thinking it's gotta be a Randy tune this time though... maybe 'Diary of a Madman'

Dont let the name fool you - I despise karaoke, but this service is pretty cool.

It's not free, but it's not expensive either.

You can pick and choose which instruments you want to include or exclude in the backing track And download it as an mp3. And you can keep going back and rearrange it and download it again.

Pretty good selection of tunes too.

There's a guy that does this here in town. He sucks, but he is hired on a consistent basis, and the audience (who doesn't know any better) thinks he's great. You could download enough songs on your MP3 player for 3 sets, be a one man band, and you're good to go.

If you're just practicing, then Tabs Pro works nicely. Only electronic renditions of the instruments, but enough to play along with and practice the part you're trying to learn.
