Hey all! My name is Tommy and I'm new to the forum. I have just acquired my first Ovation guitar, a 1979 model
1111 Balladeer sunburst (no electronics). It's in excellent condition, the playability quite nice .... and I got a smokin' deal on it. The only flaw with the guitar is that the saddle is cracked and needs to be replaced. Any
member input as to where to find a drop-in replacement, or info on the best way to fashion a replacement
would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and regards,
Tommy D

Hi Tommy,

If your saddle looks like this...

There are many replacement saddles that will work.
I would recommend getting a bone or "Tusq" saddle with a "B" string compensation.

Just measure what you have and order one (if you don't have a local shop).
Musicians Friend has a selection HERE
This is just an example.... measure and choose from their selection.
But it is pretty easy to shorten a too-long saddle... but not to make it longer.
And I am hoping that you know how to shave a saddle down on sandpaper.
(if not, ask us)

Arthur,
Yep .... the saddle looks just like the one in your pic. I saw one of the "Tusq" replacement
saddles on the makers website earlier, but I wasn't sure whether or not it would be correct
to shorten a too-long saddle to fit. That's what I'll do, and if I have any more questions, I
now know where to look for answers. Thanks for the info and your assistance.
regards,
Tommy D
