Joined: July 2005 Posts: 1609 Location: Colorado | Being a professional “pit” musician for touring Broadway shows in the 1980s, I needed the best equipment. Ovations always held tune, were indestructible, and had cutting edge electronics for acoustic guitars suited perfectly for Broadway’s move to become more electronic. I bought in a used gear store one of the original slothead Adamas composite carbon graphite prototypes by Ovation: referred to here as a “holy grail”. As I showed it to my father, he recalled fondly flying composite helicopters made by Kaman aviation. It turns out my family has made its living off products Charlie Kaman developed: my father in his helicopters…me with his guitars. Because in 2006 Ovation held a slothead reunion (who else would hold a guitar reunion?), I got to meet Bill Kaman…Charlie’s son. I cannot think of a more gracious host…who liked hearing stories from the road of his father’s guitars. My dad died recently…and fittingly as the honor guard at Arlington National Cemetery laid my dad to rest, as the closing music played…there was a helicopter flyover…I nodded toward my dad’s casket…thankful for his service, but also thankful that Charlie engineered products that were the best – and brought great joy to people. Thanks Charlie and Bill…thanks Ovation, Kaman Music Corporation, and Kaman Aviation. Mark A. Langston Broomfield, Colorado

Then an appallingly bad photo of "A Nirvana Ovation acoustic guitar". My dog could provied a better photo (and I don't even have a dog). Admittedly its nice to have a photo of an OFC'er further down.
