Good afternoon all you Adamas experts (sorry, can't bring myself to write "Adamii" no matter how grammatically correct, it's just too corny for me). To add to my existing W597 CVT BZ, I have just bought an Adamas II 1581 in red with single epaulets on eBay. Apart from the two knob electrics, is this guitar any different to the current 2081 in sound or construction? I'm thinking along the Spinal Tap lines (ie a 2081 is 500 "more" than 1581 isn't it?). From what I can ascertain they are the same apart from the electrics, the 2081 has a contour bowl and the 1581 has a deep bowl. I also believe that this 1581 (serial no. 3717 from 1983) has the suspended top as it has the "rope" style edging. The seller described it as "rare" but this sort of description is often used on eBay regardless but might he be right? In the meantime I have the agonising wait for it's arrival into the UK from the US but at least I still have the W597 to keep warm during the current miserable British weather!

I look forward to hearing the sound difference for this deep bowl compared to my mid bowl.

Thanks

Marc

1581 is not all that rare but a great guitar. 2081 has different bowl, truss rod, neck attachment and electronics. Equally nice guitar.

The 1581 may not be a rare guitar, but I have seen many more blue and black as opposed to red.

Enjoy your new toy!
