Subject: Pickguard Question - Viper

I just got done restoring a 1980 Viper mahogany natural. The pickguard does not have the words Viper inscribed in it. I thought the early Vipes did not have the inscription and the later model ones did. Can someone tell me which is correct or not correct? Do I have it backwards? Thanks all!

Backwards... They started out engraving them, then dropped it.
