There's a store about 20 miles away from me that has D'Angelicos. All they had were bronze wound. I ordered some cheap strings from WebStrings.com for $3.24 a set. Figured I'd give 'em a try since I've tried the others. D'Angelico wants $12 a set online. NOT!

I started using Elixer Polywebs several years ago. They have a smooth feel and much less finger noise. Someone mentioned Nashville Straights. Oh yah! I was around back then. Great strings but really hard to get in the guitar case :>

It has been said it will never get well as long as your picking it. I hope they weren't referring to the guitar...

I started with Black Diamond telegraph cables because that's all they sold at only the music store I could walk to, then went to Darco (when they were still Long Island Music String), then to Gretsch, Guild and then John Pearse PB.

Ah, Black Diamonds... Not sure how old these are. They were discovered in the basement of a shop that was once a mom and pop music store.

I've used nothing but Adamas (1717 or 1818) for the past 8 years - love 'em. I also get them from stringitup.com - they have excellent service.

Whats the heaviest guage tolerable on an Adadmas? I have a set of 13s (top E)that I might try, might boost the projection a bit, but my Adamas is currently strung with either 11s or light bottom 12s. For that matter, what string guage does the factory use?
