However, it is probably a matter of personal preference more than anything else, as the position would probably not affect the tone in any way. I am a perfectionist and always place the ball in the vertical position, because it is appears to be aesthetically correct. But, from the myriad of guitars that I have observed, most people don’t place much emphasis on the position. | ||

Semantics aside, I think we all agree that the correct position, if there is one, is that the ball is placed vertical, therefore, the holes would be horizontal. Every guitar I got from the company was vertical. From what I have seen, the bridges (to include Adamas) are designed for the ball to be vertical.
