They only had 4 or 5 O's there amidst at least 100 acoustics, most being Taylors and Martins. Out of those few, only one was a high end sample. Another Elite LX1778, like mine but the Black Cherry Burst. It's been there for some time now, and they have it marked down to $799 with case. Best deal in the house for sure!

In the best case a lot of Celebrity and 1 CL, 1 EliteT and few used guitars (overpriced). No Adamas at all. If you want and Adamas you should place and order for it. Among acoustic you easily find Epiphone, Martin, Taylor, Gibson (but not so many), many of the Takamine, lot of korean made Cort and Canadian Godin (Seagul LaPatrie.....). The funny thing is that Ovation sells a lot. Each time a visit those big emporioum they always have new and different O guitars in display....so why do not keep more in store ? R R.

They don't have an obligation to stock a high end adamas just so it can hang for months and always be there when ever you want to go play it. DaveThe funny thing is that Ovation sells a lot. This is all the more reason for the OFC members to try and organize gatherings in their areas. If any of you are in the Northern Michigan area, I'm up for an afternoon in the park this spring.

They have to run their business in the best way or conversely in the way "the market" (all of us) show them the way. And we are pure when we step in a guitar shop, full of passion and admiration for the "luthier" industry. What I mind is that you always find in guitar shop high end Taylor or Martin. I wish Adamas should hang there as well. Riccardo

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12759 Location: Boise, Idaho | I have discussed this many times. I wanted to try an Adamas and a local dealer didn't know the difference between Adamas and Celebrities and once tried to tell me a CDeluxe was American made when it said clearly on the tag that it was Korean. Our Guitar Center doesn't ever carry Adamas. I had to go clear down to Phoenix to see or play my first Adamas at Standing Ovation's home and then the first thing that SOB hands me, besides a drink, was a Martin! I'm glad he's not around anymore. He did have some nice Adamas and Ovations, though. There's a local shop here, but the owner doesn't really like Ovations, but handles Martins or others. As far as I know, I have the best selection of Ovation brands in the State, although tdeej might have me beat. That includes any guitar store. I've had to base almost all my purchases on the opinions of this board, which have been right on.

It when Bellevue High won State in 3A football (5th time out of 6 years). We'll probably be back again this year :D It'll be the last year of playing for my son. No more Friday night lights. Let's hope they take it one more time. Go Wolverines!
