"For anybody who's never played one of the old shiny bowls, you're in for a huge surprise. They have a really big sound, almost like an old dreadnaught, except they have mid range to spare. They have power over the entire range.

Ovation tried to capture it with the new scalloped X bracing but I don't think they did (and the new guitars are terrific guitars). Temp's was the first one I ever played after he bought it on ebay and I liberated it from a pawn shop in Hollywood and I was surprised as hell. It was after that that I bought a Deluxe Balladeer
"

heard dat!

I was struck by how much this guitar moves. It shivers when played.

I look forward to playing it. How does the lady of the house rank it in the collection?

It will keep step with the Fudd but, brighter, VERY open- not as "Toasty". It does have a more Dread-like jangle.
It doesn't "shimmer" like the 47 but, there are very nice bell-like tones.

Hmmm, I'll check into the link....

Repaired the top cracks in the DB today... Came out well. The repaired cracks are difficult to see... especially with that distracting PG shadow... But I also cleaned her up and though she ain't a 'SilkPurse'... all things considered, the guitar is in great shape and plays very well.

While I'm tryng to move up the ladder, I've always got the eye out for something like this, Jeff. Maybe not the purdiest girl at the dance but great shape, plays very well and can STONK when it's called for? I think every collection needs one of these on the wall. The tat is just a badge of honor.

I've got a shiny bowl, but it's wooden. :(

I've really taken to this guitar. It's incredibly lively.
For anyone looking for a great sounding wood top, I highly recommend it...
