BY MAUREEN O'CONNOR When a man picks up a guitar, his sexiness increases, two studies on "the mating advantage of male musicians" have concluded. (http://www.psmag.com/blogs/news-blog/the-mating-advantage-of-male-musicians-57090/) Pacific Standard reports that a study at France's Universate de Bretagne-Sud sent a 20-year-old man with "a high level of physical attractiveness" to hit on 300 women using the same script every time. When he was holding a guitar case, 31 percent of the women gave him their phone numbers. Carrying nothing, 14 percent. Carrying a gym bag, 9 percent. http://nymag.com/thecut/2013/05/guys-with-guitars-are-sexier-but-wh... http://www.psmag.com/blogs/news-blog/the-mating-advantage-of-male-m... No mention of Ovations though. :-(

Then I could compare their results with mine. Zero phone numbers with or without the guitar case. The Porsche didn't help either.

Ouch! Double ouch! And I'm not that stupid. I wouldn't try it with my banjo case. Only with an Ovation case. Chicks from Canberra are pretty sophisticated, unlike Queensland.

Worse case scenario...an aging pudgy lawyer carrying duct tape and box cutter in one hand, and a banjo case in the other. Might as well become a monk....

I get plenty of looks, I can't count the number of guys who have asked whether I have a gun in there, and I've had a few guys ask about the guitar, but I've never had a female say or ask anything. Maybe they are afraid I'll shoot them. Edited by Mark in Boise 2013-09-25 11:17 PM

You'll find them on the beach in Queensland, Australia drinking XXXX beer and playing cricket. After six beers they're only warming up!
