Hi all. First post here as I just discovered this site, though I have had my Ovation for 14 years now.

Anyhow, I have a Balladeer Special S771-4WGC model. Great guitar, except that I have some fret buzzing, particularly around the first few frets and the lower strings and especially when making barre chords. It's minor buzzing, but enough to annoy me. I changed the strings to the D'addario EXPs recommended on Ovation's site and that helped a little, but not as much as I'd like. I am thinking a slight turn to the left would fix this problem, but I don't seem to have the right tool for the job.

From what I could tell in the manual, I need the Ovation adjustment wrench #950033-X as I apparently have a Kamen bar. I have seen on this forum and elsewhere that standard allen wrenches will work and that 3/16 or 5mm is the size. I have 3/16 and it seems way too big as it won't lock into place.

From what I could tell, no place online seems to sell the wrench I need. Am I out of luck, or am I just doing something wrong in terms of adjusting the neck?

Any help would be appreciated

Uh... There are two Allen Bolts that hold the neck on...
Those hex-bolt-slots are bigger than 3/16".
You Do Not want to be turning those.

Glad you asked.

I also want to add this pic to give you an idea of what you are dealing with inside...

Your truss-rod probably doesn't have a large head like in this photo.
But those two "attach points" have hex holes (whatever) for an Allen wrench.
You do not want to remove them.

The images are helpful. I was attempting to turn the proper bolt though. I knew it wasn't the ones on the bottom. What I thought was too big was not the bolt, but rather my 3/16 allen wrench for adjusting the truss rod, as it didn't seem to want to lock in place (It felt like it was just sliding around once it made contact with the bolt). As far as I can tell, mine looks more like the one in the pics MWoody posted. I can try it again
