Did anyone here win this auction?  I've been watching it to see how high the price would go.  $710 seems like a really good deal for an Adamas.  It's apparently a rare model.  I couldn't find any info on it.  I also noted it has no fingerboard markers, except on the side of the neck perhaps.  Are most Adamas models free of markers on the front of the fingerboard??

Here's one on Ovation Tribute.
The one you were looking at was Natural Graphite.

I saw it when it was cheap and I was watching it.
I couldn't afford it so I didn't bid.
Plus it had that chipped ear anyway... (damn grapes are probably sour )

I don't think I like a fretboard without markers on the front. Are a lot of Adamas guitars like that?

I know that some will disagree but many of us do make a serious distinction of SMT and CVT's as Adamas. I have tried SMT and CVT, only keeping the Millennium. Check out a 1687 to see the difference, in price and quality.

SMT and CVT still great guitars but not the same.

Most of Adamas, and even Elite have fretboard markers.

Tony, I have no idea what you're talking about: SMT and CVT. I must have missed something somewhere. Please enlighten me. I've had my Custom Legend for a long, long time, and just recently purchased a second O, my Custom Elite. My knowledge of the different lines is not very extensive.

Lot of difference in lower end that are marked Adamas (SVT and CVT).

Could someone enlighten me as to what SVT's and CVT's are?

I actually physically saw my first Adamas in the flesh a couple of weeks ago. We were strolling Main St. in a very rural town when I saw it. After negotiating with SWMBO to go inside. I strategically checked out all the other gear first, hoping to spend some extra time with the Adamas on my last stop. But after 60 idle seconds with it SWMBO was getting restless and I had to leave. I don't recall the model. (Oh yeah... It was model $1800. She must have seen the tag before I did.)

I never did play it. We're actually heading back to that area today. I think I might find my way back to that little shop. Alone.

I also noted that this Adamas that just sold ebay does not have the Adamas label on the headstock. Instead it says "Ovation" on the headstock. Only the label inside the guitar says Adamas.

There are about 4-5 different type of Adamas tops. SMT (unidirectional) and CVT (cross weave) being two examples.

I had also had wondered about the different types of tops and the difference it makes to sound but never got the full answers:
