Here are a couple of pics of Destined To Kneel at the Make Music Denver event on Friday.  Absolutely miserable activity!  Too hot, no shelter, poorly equipped and incompetent sound support, equipment that didn't work, you name it, it went wrong, but the OFC was proudly represented!

The Global Summer Solstice music event, right? We did that a few years ago, here in Chicago. It was a blast (almost got swept away by a violent storm a few minutes after our set!)..... Looking good.

Bummer that it was a poorly organized event. Very frustrating for musicians who donate their time and talent.

I am sure you guys sounded terrific.

Yeah.... I forgot to mention that Make Music allotted a Chicago street corner for our "show" (OK) but when I inquired about power they said I was out of luck. Fortunately I had a few days to hunt down one of those new, quiet Honda generators (2500 W) that got us through the event. You all know that two Ovations cannot compete in volume with other acts and a street full of tourists! Also, it was fun, but if we had played just 15 minutes more we would have been swallowed by a bleedin' Tsunami. Wild days. And, yes, "Make Music X" is NOT well organized. Perhaps just too ambitious?

The pisser about this event is, they invite 150-200 bands to just come set up on a street corner to play. Some locations have power, some don't. I f you need power you request a location with power. I would have loved that. Then there is a "special" stage, the "Main Stage," where they select the special few (8 bands) to perform, with pro backline, stage, website promotion, etc. etc. Then they send these hack highschool kids to run the show, untrained and underequipped, and when something goes wrong, I actually heard the kid say "Let me call my dad and see what he wants me to do."

I actually think the overall event is intentionally under organized, because they are trying to create a sense of spontenaity (sp?), like, oh, look, hundreds of musicians just showed up to jam outside today! How cool! I had expected the "stage" would offer a bit more structure and support.

Hey Patch! Recognize that EA68 Viper? I used the Honey Viper for the first three "acoustic" songs, then switched to the Hamer Monoco III for the rest. I have to agree with Jon. Playing in the hot sun with inexperienced sound guys is for the birds. The highpoint are Jon's songs. They're terrific!
